What it is
Adam Jones' backbone on 10,000 Days is a Diezel VH4 blended with a Marshall into Marshall 4x12s, so that's the whole rig here — @deathblossomaudio's DIEZEL VH4 capture through @magister's Marshall 4x12 V30 IR, no drive pedal in front (the VH4's channel 3 is the gain, and stacking an OD would only smear that dry, midrangey grind).
For the lead I added a gentle Dyna Comp-style compressor for sustain on the held bends, a 440 ms delay at low mix with a few repeats for the cavernous depth around the solo, a small dark hall at 16%, and an EQ that scoops 300 Hz a touch while lifting 750 Hz / 2 kHz so the line cuts over the riff instead of sitting in it. Noise gate is set fairly gentle so sustained notes don't get chopped.
Play it on the Gibson Explorer — mahogany and humbuckers is the closest thing you have to his Silverburst Les Paul Custom. Bridge pickup, tuned drop D, with the guitar's tone control rolled back to about 7–8 for that woody, slightly hooded Jones lead voice; nudge it back up to 10 if you want more snarl on the harmonized lines.
The chain
Signal order, in front of the amp first. Every block is a real capture of real gear — somebody else's work, named here, and downloaded on your own account. Nothing here is a model of a model.
