What it is
Rig's up: @servusjon's Orange Rockerverb MK3 capture through @wendycabs' Orange 4x12 with V30s — that thick, mid-forward British crunch is the backbone of Coheed's Vaxis-era rhythm sound, gainy enough for the driving verses but still chordal and open for the big chorus. In front of it is @studioampcaptures' TS9, set low: it's there as a tightening boost to firm up the low end and push the amp, not as a second distortion.
For the finishing touches I lifted the mids and treble slightly (+2 / +2.5) so the riff cuts through a dense mix like Claudio's tone does, added a light chorus for that shimmering Coheed layer on the cleaner picking, a subtle 300 ms delay with a couple of repeats for the anthemic width, a small room reverb, and a gentle gate at -58 dB to keep the boosted amp quiet between phrases. Fair warning: Claudio's exact head for this record isn't something I can confirm, so I built around the Orange-style crunch his rhythm tone has always leaned on.
The chain
Signal order, in front of the amp first. Every block is a real capture of real gear — somebody else's work, named here, and downloaded on your own account. Nothing here is a model of a model.
